The Little Viet Kitchen, London

I started following this talented chef Thuy Pham @The Little Viet Kitchen in London on Instagram for a while and never thought I would actually go to her restaurant as the primary purpose of our trip. Yes, we flew all the way to London from the other side of the world to try out her food.

We made 2 reservations from our 6 day trip (first and last evenings).

First to arrive as they opened!

First impression walking into the restaurant, it was an adorable, cozy, French cottage-like, thoughtfully decorated restaurant with lots of personal detail (later, we learned that Chef Thuy and her husband David hand selected all of the furniture and hand painted them).

Grilled king prawns drizzled with a whole load of tamarind & fish sauce dressing… DELISH!!!
CHOW TIME!

Can’t recommend this place highly enough. Staff was extremely friendly – we got to meet Chef Thuy’s husband David. Food was flavorful and mind you, it was just my sister and I but we finished everything. Wait, it gets better!

It was last evening in London and we went back to LVK to finish off our already fantastic, satisfying trip. We placed our order and started mesmerizing how this trip can’t get any better than this. Food came and it was more than what we ordered and we were told it was complimentary from Chef Thuy…wait, what? She knew we were coming that evening, it was totally mind-blowing. It was a busy evening at the restaurant and we sure appreciated her sincerity & thoughtfulness. Wait for it…

The most tasty, tender beef short ribs with meat falls apart..second one is complimentary! Shh…

We took our time to enjoy every bite and the food was truly incredible. As we finished up our meal, the bill for some reason took a bit longer than usual to come, and little did we know, it was because Chef Thuy wanted to come greet us in person. It totally caught us by surprise and we were literally screaming at the restaurant in laughter! She kneeled down next to our table sharing her personal journey with us for over 20 mins. We were in tears including Chef Thuy!

Her illuminated soul and spirit!

Her sincerity, passion and dedication to Vietnamese cuisine was so inspirational. Every dish has a memory linked to her childhood and Vietnamese roots. She saw our pictures on Instagram with my sister’s genuine smile enjoying her food in joy, that brought Chef Thuy so much delightfulness and that’s exactly why she is doing what she is doing. I am certainly impressed by her story and inspired by her soul.

Next time, we need to make it to the LVK Supper Club! This is a dining experience with multiple courses + tasting menu carefully designed by Chef Thuy. Check out her Instagram and cookbook to learn more about her journey.
