The colorful Maltese balconies are everywhere in Valletta! The first thing I noticed in Malta were the balconies; colorful, enclosed, wooden, and on every single home, that has become the iconic building feature. Maltese Baroque architecture is the form of Baroque architecture that developed in Malta during the 17th and 18th centuries.
One of the most famous Game of Thrones settings from Season 1, The Azure Window in Gozo was the scene of the Dothraki wedding feast between Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen on the coast of Pentos in Episode 1, ‘Winter is Coming’. Unfortunately, the Azure Window no longer exists: in 2017, the rock formation succumbed to the elements and collapsed into the sea after heavy storms.
Blue Lagoon is a perfect destination for a day trip. It was quite crowded as this is a very popular tourist spot in Malta but I sure enjoyed the listerine like blue water. You can also potentially go all out drinking cocktails they pour into hollowed out pineapples all day long.
Another GoT siting. It was here at the entrance where in Season 1, Episode 3 ‘Lord Snow’, Catelyn and Ser Rodrik Cassel rode into King’s Landing to try and establish what led to Bran’s fall.
Here at Mesquita Square. It’s here where Jamie Lannister and his spearmen attack Ned Stark and his guards in Season 1, Episode 5 ‘The Wolf and the Lion’. The Mdina also houses the entrance and balcony to Littlefinger’s brothel.
I had zero expectation of Malta prior to the trip and I have learned so much about this place and how beautiful it is.
